Emmas First Ornament

Emma's first Christmas was jam-packed with firsts... first plane ride, first illness, first time meeting my brother, first time petting a chicken, first time being away from home for more than two days. And her first ornament! I handstitched it out of wool felt with beaded details, inspired by these amazing bird ornaments and this gorgeous bookmark. I gave it to my parents to add to their collection of handmade ornaments that include ones my brother and I made over the years.

The colors are untraditional for holiday, because I decided to use her nursery colors, aqua, yellow and pink. I love how it turned out! I also made one in a more traditional holiday color scheme for my Quilt Guild's Secret Ornament Swap, but I forgot to take a picture before I wrapped it up, gah. Luckily, my swap partner was sweet enough to agree to send me some photos so I'll be posting that one too, as soon as I get them.

I hope you all had an amazing holiday season!
